The exhibition tells a story about Finland’s most influencial glass factory starting from when it was opened in 1889 to the last bottle manufactured with love in 2009. Shown are over thousand glass items from everyday glass jars to specialty items and the stars of 1930’s world’s fair. In this exhibition you can enjoy design and everyday aesthetics. The collectors can enjoy the large amount of glass pieces boasting valuable cultural history. The exhibition is open from May 19th, 2017 thru January 31st, 2022.
Partanen & Lamusuo was responsible for exhibition and graphic design of the space. The bright display cases lighted from within give the space a rhythm and let the items shine with their own true colors. The exhibition is divided into five distinctly colored different themes based on the glass factory’s history and the glass items displayed. The acoustics and the ability to read the description text of the items played an important role when designing the exhibition.
The exhibition is led on by trace of smoke that tells a story about the ambience of glass making from the very beginning to the last bottle of sorrow. It symbolically entwines the history of the factory and the exhibition space.
