Everyday art that repairs the environment

Partanen & Lamusuo reduces plastic waste. The Pa-La team designed for the Niirala Pharmacy of Kuopio a cloth bag with a logo, with the idea of reducing the plastic bag load of pharmacies. The team's idea is that the bag suits all purposes and doesn't cry out as an advertisement of the pharmacy, but whispers against plastic waste.

Kallavesi lake in the bag

The bag depicts Kuopio's silhouette so that the logo text undulates as Kallavesi in front of the city. The logo has influences of the city silhouette made earlier by Partanen & Lamusuo for the Kuopio airport, reflecting Kuopio's central elements, the Puijo hill, the Market Hall and Minna Canth. The designers wish that the bag becomes a favorite bag similar to what Marimekko's logo bag has become for young people.

Big things from small acts

The cloth bag of course relates its bearer's relationship with nature, although it as such speaks of the environmental values of the Niirala Pharmacy and the Partanen & Lamusuo design office. Wasn't the bag a little too small a job for an international design office?

- No. The matter is extremely important, topical, and it reflects our ideology. In all our works, we want to express a good world and to protect nature. Hopefully many sparks are ignited by this for reducing plastic waste.
