Partanen & Lamusuo received an invitation and participated in the competition of Pori Satasairaala with their proposal SataMandalaa. The work of art was designed to enliven the walls of the hospital with round and symmetrical patterns. The SataMandalaa proposal was narrowly second this time and the credit for the victory went to another artist.
The idea was to create work of art where you could see the world and its colors through it. The walls of the hospital would have been enlivened by nature-inspired Mandala illustrations that would change daily according to the seasons, the color of the sky and the mood of the viewer. In addition to an artwork made of stainless steel, each visitor coming for treatment would be given their own coloring book inspired by the facade work, allowing them to illustrate their own story on blank pages and list thoughts that came along the way without words or misunderstandings.
