Riisa is the pearl of Kuopio

03.08.2020

Have you visited the pearl of Kuopio, the Orthodox Church Museum Riisa? Partanen & Lamusuo Ltd planned the museum's exhibition renovation and created the museum concept. The idea of gold and silver riisa proposed by Pa-La was accepted as the basis for the exhibition reform, the public spaces and the graphic design. A metallic riisa protects the icon, but at the same time leaves something visible about it. Similarly, the museum preserves precious cultural treasures, however, presenting only a part of them at a time.

In the On the Stairs of Sanctity (Pyhyyden portailla) exhibition opened in 2015, Partanen & Lamusuo Ltd has wanted to present the rich world of colours and the lustre of gold and silver associated both with the Byzantine and the Karelian-Orthodox tradition. Attention has also been paid to the acoustic surroundings, e.g., by means of a fitted carpet, in order to make the museum experience peaceful and special. Several pieces of furniture in the multi-purpose space, the shop and the exhibition spaces are also from the hand of Partanen & Lamusuo Ltd.
