Iisalmen Veljeskoti Oy ordered a three-part fixed work of art from the artist, Jaana Partanen, for its new Alava premises in Kuopio. The nursing staff collected pictures and text material related to the lives of the residents-to-be for use by the artist as the basis for the artwork.
Partanen's works are based on the coming together of people and nature, the animal kingdom. The glimmering mythical creatures in red and gold are there in the entrance hall to greet the coming residents to the Alava home. The white walls are given stories to tell, familiar animal figures, meetings and memories. The gold brings a certain reverence for life, while the red accentuates the force of life.
