Hossa Visitors’ Centre

The basic architectural idea behind the pair of semidetached houses to be built for staff at the visitors centre of the Hossa National Park was that the inhabitants should be protected from the gaze of the tourists - in fact they should be able to go into hiding - while still being able to enjoy the magnificent view over the lake as well as having a measure of privacy. Thus a steep slope covered by dry pine forest was selected as the most suitable site, since the building could be concealed so that virtually only the roof was visible and the houses could be provided with large windows that opened out onto a terrace occupying the whole width of the building and offering an uninterrupted view of the lake.
